Research Presentation Poster
Understanding In-Flight Radiation: Development of a Survey
I designed this poster to present my summer research project at Space Environment Technologies (SET), “Understanding In-Flight Radiation: Development of a Survey”. I presented at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Research Conference (September 2021), the Florida International University McNair Scholars Conference (November 2021), and the National Conference on Undergraduate Research At Home Conference in April 2022. During this presentation, I explain how I developed a survey for air crew, gauging their understanding of radiation, and collecting their opinions on an app developed by SET (the Automated Radiation Measurements for Aerospace Safety (ARMAS) app). This app helps users reduce cancer risk, allowing them to track exposure to cosmic radiation, and providing space-weather data. In this project, I evaluated the effectiveness of my survey design through a face validity study in which I conducted interviews with users.
